Cincinnati Nissan Leaf Electric Car with Zero Emissions

Cincinnati is excited about the new Nissan Leaf electric car!  The sleek 5 passenger electric hatchback was recently unveiled by Nissan and should be at Cincinnati Nissan dealerships this fall. The reservation process has already started on Nissan's website. All that is needed is your information and a refundable $99 deposit.

With an estimated range of 100 miles, and MSRP of $32,780, the new Nissan Leaf would be the first affordable and practical electric car on sale in Cincinnati, Ohio and throughout the US. Federal tax savings of $0 to $7,500 will make the Leaf even more practical with prices as low as $25,280.

Nissan has heavily committed itself to designing, developing and producing electric cars in the future that will have zero emissions and provide for the ultimate “green” driving experience.  The 2 primary obstacles in creating an affordable and practical electric car are to first have a lightweight battery that holds a significant amount of energy.  This requires highly advanced battery technology which Nissan has been researching for some time.  The second obstacle is having a simple way to charge the vehicle, whether at home or on the roads around Cincinnati.

Charging your Nissan Leaf electric car at home in Cincy should not be a major problem – but what do you do if you are on the road around Ohio?  Nissan has been working to develop a network of convenient charging stations around the country by partnering with the government, communities, and industry so as to build the infrastructure needed to make charging your vehicle around Cincinnati and northern KY a practical event.

If you use a 220 volt line (similar to the outlet you use at home to power your appliances such as a drier), it should take about 8 hours to charge your Nissan Leaf.  A traditional 110 volt line should take about twice that amount of time.  A “quick-charge” capability will likely be available – but you will likely need a much higher voltage source.

You cannot compare “miles per gallon” when you are using electric with the Nissan Leaf, but you can compare cost per mile.  Estimated costs for the Nissan Leaf electric car are about 4 cents per mile (if you estimate gas at $4/gallon), comparing to about 13 cents a mile you would pay for a gasoline car that gets 30 mpg (estimating gas at $4/gallon).  That is quite a bit of fuel savings – and while creating zero emissions!
